Hey everybody, I don't have much time here so unfortunately I can only upload photos for now. But I'll try to write on this post as soon as I can, I promise!

Ryan called most recently from Walden, Colorado.  He was riding between thunderheads on his way to Rawlins, Wyoming but managed to find shelter to settle in for the night and let the storms roll through.   He said Wyoming was dry and he is glad to be in the mountains again.  The scenery changed near the border.  Soon he will be gaining a lot of elevation and will be staying at higher elevations throughout a lot of Colorado until he nears Pueblo.

Ryan called most recently from Lander, Wyoming. He had biked 70 miles each of the previous two days so he took a day's break there and spent the day getting a bike check/overhaul, checking over college info, and into camping supplies, and enjoying the coolness of the library with a good book.  He's thinking of taking a side trip into Rocky Mountain National Park.

Ryan called from Coulter Bay in the Tetons last night. He spent 4 days travelling through Yellowstone National Park. Despite a short bout of stomach flu, he said that Yellowstone was the best part of his trip thus far, and he would love to come back to visit the wilderness areas more.
He never did get to the rodeo in Ennis, as he had a mishap with a water sprinkler and his tent.  However he did relay that farther along he had an interesting chat with someone who was revisiting Lewis and Clark's journey with a homemade dugout canoe. Ryan got to paddle in the canoe.
(Hopefully Ryan will get to post pictures at a later date.  The library internet was down in West Yellowstone so he never got to post his blog there.)
He has met many friendly people along the way.
He has been enjoying his trip a lot and it's fueling the fires for other adventures he hopes to have in the future.

Ennis

Hi all- Ryan called us and left a message on Wednesday (We were camping and were out of cell phone range.) that he was in Ennis, MT, 70 miles from Yellowstone.  He planned to watch the rodeo there. By the way, Ryan is having trouble retrieving his voice messages on his phone, so email, comment on the blog, or text his phone number if you need to communicate with him. We also got a second call saying he was planning to reach Yellowstone National Park on July 4th. So 3 weeks from his start he is enjoying the grandeur of Yellowstone National Park.  (Wow! Ryan you're so amazing, and we're so proud of you)

Check in from Ryan

Ryan called at 3:40 this afternoon, letting us know that he had crossed Chief Joseph pass and was beyond the town of Wisdom, MT. Sounds like he is doing well, but that the temps were above 95 degrees (same as they are here in Bend). He has been staying out of the heat of the day when he can. He was calling from another person's phone so he had to keep it short, but he sends his greetings to everyone.
