We recieved this email from Ryan on Tuesday:

I'm staying in Nickerson today, apparently there's an older couple who hosts bikers here, and I still need to figure out my route better. I spent an hour and 20 minutes trying to save some possum babies whose mother had been hit. I did move a turtle off the road earlier. Today wasn't rainy, but yesterday I biked 20 miles through a thunderstorm where it was just pouring. But I got a ride a couple miles ahead to a small town where I could stay at the city park (which is good, because it would mean biking another forty miles in the rain, lightning and the dark, and I was still 90-100 miles from where I thought I would stay that night).

Ryan is in Dighton, Kansas as of Friday night. He called in the evening while he was setting up camp at a roadside park. He was in Horace on the previous night where he said the winds were pretty gusty. He did a small time trial and raced 11 miles in 30 minutes. Towns are more frequent now so it's easier to find food and places to rest. He still sounds happy enjoying his trip. He's thinking more about the road ahead and being in college next month.

Ryan spent a few days around the Canon City/Pueblo/ Ordway areas. He was completing placement tests for college and catching up on college prep, restocking/organizing, adjusting to altitude changes and heat, meeting some friendly folks with interesting life tales, and unfortunately dealing with more flat tires. Thanks to the generosity and openness of people to help, give hospitality, and swap stories. (Renee writing for Ryan)

Ryan is in the vicinity of Pueblo, Colorado.  He enjoyed his last days in the high altitudes of Colorado and camped one night near Hoosier Pass (elev. 11,541 ft.).  He stayed a couple of nights in Hostels in Kremmling and Silverthorne areas.  He is doing well. He said the area around Pueblo definitely feels like a Safari (desert like and hot 100+ degrees).

Hey everybody, I don't have much time here so unfortunately I can only upload photos for now. But I'll try to write on this post as soon as I can, I promise!
